FAQs
Plays represent a complete software project that you own on another platform (like Github) and want to distribute on our marketplace. During submission, we'll establish a connection between your Playbooks play and the host play that will keep them in sync when you make updates.
Play submissions are limited to users and teams that have been approved by an admin. This way, we can better manage the quality of the marketplace and fine-tune our offering during beta. That said, we will eventually open this up to the broader community and are open to your suggestions in the meantime.
To submit a play, simply click the 'Submit New' button at the top of the page and then follow the prompts. While working on your play make sure to save your progress so you can come and go as you please. When you're ready, simply click the 'Submit For Review' button on the final page to notify our team.
Playbooks offers a digital marketplace where developers can buy, sell, and exchange software seamlessly. By submitting a play, most developers are looking to monetize their expertise by charging a fee per download. That said, there are plenty of free plays on the marketplace that deliver value and we encourage that too.
In general, we're open to any stack that organizes content on our platform in a meaningful way. However, the wizard and our database modeling does have limitations such as the type and variation of your stack. If you run into issues, simply contact support and someone will happily assist you.
Once you submit your stack, our team will receive a notification indicating you are ready for review. Most submissions take less than 24 hours. And, if we have questions, we'll be sure to reach out. When approved, we'll alert you via email and publish your stack to the marketplace immediately.
Yes, you can make your play private meaning it won't show up in public areas of the marketplace. Instead, it can only be accessed via direct URL. This makes it suitable for private-sales with a specific set of clients. We'll continue to refine this strategy over time.
Yes. You can edit your play at anytime via the submission flow until it gets published to the marketplace. After that, you can manage your play via the settings page on your play.
No. You can submit as many plays as you'd like free of charge.
Submitting a play to Playbooks does not guarantee sales. That said, we generally steer clear of editorial decisions when it comes to plays and let the marketplace dictate what's popular. We will however remain strict when it comes to our Community and Quality standards so please ensure your work meets those standards before submission.
